REPORT FROM BLUE PLANET VI

Comrades of Logisaur, in consideration of current planet-wide attack of infectious agents, analysis of body-maintenance systems is indicated.  Units tasked with maintaining optimum functioning of fellow human units, as well as systems, facilities, and resources for same are collectively known as health care system.

A wide disparity in efficiency and effectiveness of regional Blue Planet health care systems has been observed.  For simplicity mission will consider three broad types of systems.

Due to previously noted competition of major regions for influence and resources, as well as conflicting impulses regarding the concern for community wide well-being and the greed emotion, some smaller and less resourced regions have very inferior health care systems.  There is significant disparity in this type:  some extremely primitive and inefficient, some improving, some corrupt.  On the whole these systems functioning relatively effectively considering lack of resources and technology.  Systems and results could be greatly improved with reinforcement from better resourced regions.  Such reinforcement takes place only sporadically and insufficiently due to lack of planet-wide community concern and poor coordination.

Other two types are both within more advanced and well resourced, “wealthier”, regions.  Most systems in this region type have a much higher degree of efficiency and concern for in region community.  All units in these regions can access the healthcare system with minimal effort and expenditure of unit resources.  Systems are efficient for units as well as region, keeping units in optimal shape for contribution to society as well as unit’s quality of life.  Central coordination and management within region is critical for these positive results.

The exception among well resourced regions is the United States.  The system in the United States has an extremely high degree of inefficiency and absurdity, even for this primitive planet.  This results in sporadic and insufficient delivery of health care.  Technology and resources exist for better distribution and access to health care, but this does not occur.  Indications are that this is primarily because it’s all about the money, ain’t a damn thing funny.

In this region access to the health care system requires many of the dollars.  No reasonable connection between the dollars and the health care system have been found.  Some units have very few dollars and consequently have greatly reduced access to healthcare, and healthcare that is accessible is of inferior quality.  Others have an abundant supply of dollars and can access any health care and resources needed, or simply desired.  Those in between access healthcare only with great effort and expenditure of dollars.  Units must spend a shitload of time on paperwork and meaningless minutia.  The amount of this minutia is enough to tax even the superior intellect and systems of Logisaureans.  This is really one of the stupidest things mission has observed on Blue Planet thus far.

This is somewhat unexpected given that the United States, and much of the Blue Planet, consider this to be a leading region.  Conversely, it is also somewhat predictable given that there is much lack of logic in region United States.  As noted previously, well-being of community is an ideal that is aspired to, but efforts are often non-existent or insufficient.  Well-being of whole community often receives much of the lip-service but little actual service.

To access health care there is a system of “insurance”.  It seems more like an example of the Blue Planet leisure activity of gambling.  With some understanding of the human emotions, mission would describe the insurance as funny, and sad.  Human units pay large amounts of the dollars on a regular basis when healthy in order to access health care when needed.  However, insurance system frequently does not allow for health care access when needed without paying more of the dollars.  And paperwork; like, an astronomical amount of paperwork.  After paying much for the insurance, units frequently discover that required healthcare is not accessible.  HA, HA!  Pay more dollars; so much fun.  Home planet, please understand this is not a mistake.  Mission has evaluated this phenomenon extensively; if it seems absurd, it is because it is.  Or, as they say, it is what it is.

The final result is that United States, one of most advanced regions, does a shit-poor job of taking care of its members’ health.  Most other advanced regions do this with little cost to members.

Here’s another one that is the funny and the sad:  If a unit does not have enough of the dollars to get the insurance, that unit is often charged more for health care than units with insurance.  That unit is not in the club, as humans sometimes say, or not in the network, so screw them.  This is one of many examples in United States where units with fewer dollars are treated as second rate expendable lives.  Other examples of same will be explored in future reports.

Mission is aware of another example of this mess.  While travelling in region Italy, a United States unit needed emergency transport to health care facility due to momentary loss of consciousness.  United States unit does not pay local fees, or “taxes” that support region Italy health care and other systems.  Still, the emergency transport and evaluation cost approximately 35 of dollars.  Transport alone in United States may be anywhere from a few hundred, if one is lucky, to a few thousand of dollars.

Many in other advanced regions laugh at the United States system.  Many in United States want to provide health care to all people, as in other advanced regions.  But there are many with much greed, the dollar worshipers, who want to deny health care to many units.

As previously stated, lots of crazy stuff here on Blue Planet.  Human units continue to amaze in that they can be advanced in some ways while simultaneously being so primitive, even barbaric.
