REPORT FROM BLUE PLANET II

Comrades of Logisaur, report from Blue Planet continues to be inhibited by imperfect command of language English.  CAS adaptations continue to evolve and improve.  Current comprehension levels believed sufficient for continued research and reports, however observations and conclusions are provisional.

Previously reported threat to life of presiding species here continues.  Some regions suffer more, but entire Blue Planet potentially affected.  Humans are being attacked by infectious agents which interfere with functions of human units, primarily respiratory functions.  Recovery is possible, but a large number of infected units suffer end of life consequences.  When threat presence is known attacking agents can often be neutralized, but threat is greatly exacerbated by vision limitations of humans.  Although infectious agents are many times larger than our hover analyzers they are too small to be seen by humans.  This has led to evasive maneuvers in the form of massive suspensions and / or modifications of virtually all operations for much of the planet, primarily in most affected regions.

Because the infectious agents can travel from one human to another, the primary modification to normal planetary functioning is the “social”, or physical, isolation of human units.  Without experiencing life on Blue Planet the significance of this may be difficult to comprehend for Loigsaureans.  Must consider that, lacking normal telepathy, humans depend greatly on interaction in close proximity for both carrying out many functions and meeting the needs of the emotions.  Although some communication technologies have become more advanced in last twenty Blue Planet years, allowing for communication with visual interface from remote locations, humans rely heavily on face-with-face interaction.  Lack of face-with-face interaction in close proximity causes much stress to the emotions and can result in interference with ordered thought in some units.  Although unilateral thought reading has been severely limited, indications from attempts at same are that even with normal interaction many humans feel the alone emotion due to lack of telepathy and great limitations of primitive word-language systems.   This emotion appears to be perceived negatively in most units.  Isolation procedures greatly exacerbate this.  Remote communication technologies partially mitigate effects of isolation but are a poor substitute for face-with-face interaction.

The physical isolation has resulted in a reduction or total breakdown in many operations that require proximity among units.  This causes further stress to units due to lack of vital resources such as hygiene and nutrient resources.  As indicated in first report the emotions often hinder the ordered thought.  Analysis indicates only minor or zero scarcity of resources and transport of same.  However human units are not operating at baseline levels due to stress of isolation which in turn increases occurrence of the “fear” emotion.  Most human units appear to have self-awareness of this phenomenon which helps to mitigate the occurrence of other negative emotions, such as the greed.  However there are occasional isolated violent confrontations between units over resources, especially the “toilet paper”; please, do not even ask mission to elaborate on this.

Body maintenance systems – or “Medical Facilities”- are one of most crucial of all systems on Blue Planet. Medical facilities are greatly overwhelmed due to influx of infected human units.  Main mission of these facilities is to avoid end of life consequences and restore normal functioning to infected units.  Facilities operating at or near capacity, causing great stress to systems as well as to individual human units (medical personnel).  Medical personnel are under threat of infection and some resources required for mission are now scarce, causing logistical complications and transforming medical personnel into warriors.  These warriors waging intense battle with infectious agents with much success.  There is, however, a high incidence of end of life consequences.  This causes very high degree of stress and emotions to warriors, as well as to close associates of units suffering end of life consequences, and to community as a whole.

Next report will examine tactics in the battle with infectious agents.
